The Autel Evo 2 Enterprise Series drones are a great fit for public safety agencies. The Evo 2 Enterprise 640T is my current top seller for police and fire departments. My customers cite the following factors which influenced them to purchase this unit:
- The Dual sensor thermal camera (640×512) is bundled with a high resolution (6000×8000) optical camera.
- The thermal imaging system includes features normally found on more expensive models such as radiometric, isotherm and spot metering.
- The optical camera is cable of 16x zoom.
- Flight time. The Evo 2’s flight time is rated at 41 minutes
- The remote controller. The Autel Enterprise remote is the brightest display of any Enterprise class drone on the market. the 2,000 NIT display is viewable even in direct sunlight.
- The orange airframe is easier to see than other drones.
- The airframe is capable of carrying a payload like the FoxFury Exolander. The Exolander is an add-on accessory that allows you to deliver a payload like a personal floatation device, additional strobe lights and a focussed beam high intensity searchlight.
Here are a few new updates to the Evo 2 Enterprise Version 3 over the previous Version 2
- Improved video transmission system, Tri-band 900mhz, 2.4 and 5.8 ghz (900 MHz has better penetration through foliage and structures.
- Optical camera has better low light capabilities
- Compatible with the Live Deck 2, a remote receiver that is ideal for your command post
What’s the difference between the Evo 2 Enterprise 640T and the Evo 2 640T Rugged Bundle?
The Enterprise package includes the Enterprise remote (8 inch high brightness display. The Enterprise drone has an accessory port which accommodates the included speaker, searchlight and an optional RTK module, the regular 640T rugged bundle does not have the accessory port. The Enterprise airframe has slightly longer arms (upgraded to carbon fiber) and upgraded motors which can handle a bit more payload. The Enterprise propellers are slightly larger than the standard Evo 2 propellers.
The Evo 2 640T does have the same dual sensor thermal and optical camera as the Enterprise unit but the standard 640T rugged bundle does not have an accessory port. Only the Enterprise version includes the searchlight, speaker and strobe.
What’s the difference between the 640T (Infiray) Radiometric and FLIR?
The 640T infiray is built using a thermal sensor manufactured by a Chinese company Infiray. The FLIR thermal sensor is manufactured in the USA. Autel’s drones and their other components are all made in China however Autel is a US based company. Their HQ is in Washington state.
Some users require the FLIR sensor for different reasons. Some prefer it because it is US technology. FLIR offers their own software suite to analyze thermal images. This is called FLIR tools. It is primarily used in the commercial and inspection industries therefor people who are certified thermographers, i.e. trained in the use of FLIR imaging systems and FLIR tools may opt for the FLIR branded sensor. Public safety agencies don’t usually have this requirement. Autel offers its own software analysis tool that is compatible with the Infiray sensor. Some federal agencies opt for the FLIR because it is US made.
Now for the real question, is one going to produce better results than the other? If your application is public safety, the answers is no. Both sensors will produce nearly identical results. Some public safety folks believe the Infiray is slightly better, providing more contrast.
If you had specific reasons like those previously mentioned, the FLIR may be your best option. If not, the 640T Infiray is a more economical choice. So far every public safety agency I have worked with is satisfied with the 640T. In 2022 Autel discontinued the FLIR version of the Evo 2. The FLIR branded sensor cost nearly $3,000 more than the Infiray sensors and did not produce better results, therefore the demand was very low and these units were discontinued.
Is the Live Deck mobile receiver available for the Evo 2 Enterprise?
Yes! The Live Deck has returned with Version 3. The new Live Deck 2 is loaded with features. This remote receiver can be located away from your pilot in a command post. Other users can pair to it with their smartphones allowing your team to view streaming video from the drone.
Live Deck 2 (Android-based) transmits real-time full HD video to your TV, computer, and/or multiple cell phones via Ethernet, USB-A, HDMI interface, or livedeck-generated WiFi. Adopted with upgraded image transmission technology, its anti-interference ability is 4 times greater than Live Deck 1. It supports 2.4GHz/5.8GHz/900MHz working frequencies. The Live Deck 2 is available for $699
What is the availability and expected delivery?
