If this is the first time you are registering a drone I have created instructions on setting up your account and registering your drone. To determine if you are required to register your drone and determine if you should register as a recreational or commercial user, visit the FAA’s website here: https://www.faa.gov/uas/getting_started/user_identification_tool
- Go to this website: https://faadronezone-access.faa.gov
- Select “create an account”
- Enter your details and create your account
- Go to “Log In”
- Select “Add a Service” and select “Drone Owners and Pilots”
- Select “Manage Inventory”
- Select “Add Device”. You will be given a choice between “Recreational Use” and “Part 107”.
- You will be asked if your drone broadcasts FAA Remote ID information. Answer yes if your drone has this capability. Most drones do but to confirm, look up the serial number in the FAA’s database here: https://uasdoc.faa.gov/listdocs
- Enter the serial number and validate. The serial number will be checked against the FAA’s database of approved aircraft.
- Select “Add Device”
- Complete the fields and give the aircraft a nickname (for your future reference).
- Select “Add to Cart”. Repeat the process for additional drones.
- Complete payment information. A PDF document will be generated for each drone. The document will include the serial number and a registration number. Print this document and keep it with you when operating the drone.
- Generate a label with the registration number and attach it to the exterior of the drone.
